The Power of Technology in Battling Social Isolation and Loneliness

Research confirms that the older adult population continues to be plagued with the effects of physical and social isolation, including depression and loneliness. For years, many industry insiders have advocated that technology is part of the solution. Certainly, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of many of these technologies and will undoubtedly usher in the next generation as well. Join this presentation to discuss the technologies of today and those of the future that we hope will help us continue this fight against social isolation and loneliness, and to improve the quality of life for elders living at home or a senior living care community. Attendees will learn about taking what we learned from COVID in 2020 across care and services, and strategies for resident and operational success in 2021.

Audience: Beginner/Intermediate

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand opportunities to implement low barrier technologies that better connect, inform and engage residents
  2. Learn about unique applications of common technologies (both community-provided and personal) that help residents overcome loneliness
  3. Assess the landscape of trending devices and systems available in senior living today

Target Audience: Nursing Home Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Compliance Staff, QA Director, Department Heads, Human Resources, Corporate Leaders, Board Members

Contact Hours: Up to 1 contact hour of credit for each webinar session for Nursing Home Administrators, Nurses and Social Workers

In addition to operations management, Cindy was instrumental in several large capital projects, including and renovating and re-positioning core common areas and health care buildings. Her team implemented new EMR, HRIS, Pharmacy, Nurse Scheduling, Payroll and Work Order systems to increase efficiencies across the community. Prior to senior living, Cindy held varying operational and leadership roles, technology/systems integration projects, and running her own change management/consulting practice on culture change, training, executive coaching and process improvement.
