critical to mentoring the next generation of Administrators and
facilitating quality education to prepare AITs for real-world practice
as a leader in aging services. Enjoy a chance to learn in person from fellow nursing home administrators and your peers in skilled nursing at this training! Lunch will be provided. This training program prepares Nursing Home Administrators (NHA) to serve as Preceptors for students in Administrator-In-Training (AIT) Programs or College-Based Internships required for those seeking to become licensed Nursing Home Administrators. This preceptor training meets the requirements of the Board of Nursing Home Administrators, as set forth in Rule 64B10-16.0025, F.A.C., and provides up to 6 hours of live, in-person continuing education. Audience This educational workshop is appropriate for Nursing Home Administrators seeking to become AIT Preceptors in Florida. Instructor Michael Buxton, MHSA, NHA, FL-AL Admin Michael Buxton received his MHSA from the University of Central Florida, where he was a four-year scholar-athlete. A licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Michael currently serves as the Director of Operations for John Knox Village of Central Florida, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization's healthcare lines of business. Newsweek has rated John Knox Village of Central Florida's Nursing Home as the best 150-bed+ nursing home in the State of Florida. Michael worked through the Florida NHA preceptor plan as a student, became a preceptor himself, and has been a licensed nursing home administrator for over ten years. Contact Hours LeadingAge Southeast is providing up to 6 contact hours of live, in-person credit for nursing home administrators, nurses and clinical social workers licensed in Florida. Contact hours will be posted to CEBroker within 30 days of the program date. Scholarships The Scott Boord Career Development Scholarship Program gives members an opportunity to attend Aging Services programs and education events for those that otherwise would be unable to participate because of financial limitations. Cancellations/Refunds/Substitutions There is a $50 administrative fee for each cancellation or refund. Substitutions will be accepted at no additional fee. Due to costs incurred related to the workshop, no refunds will be issued after Friday, July 3, 2026.
