LeadingAge Florida Statement on Vaccine Mandate

Last week CMS posted its vaccine mandate rule which applies to all certified Medicare and Medicaid providers. The rule states that all long-term care staff must be fully vaccinated by January 4 and the failure to comply will result in monetary penalties, denial of payment and even termination from the Medicaid and Medicaid program as a final measure. LeadingAge Florida Receives National Recognition for COVID-19 Response

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has recognized LeadingAge Florida for its COVID-19 response in support of senior living providers. LeadingAge Florida received the Silver Power of (A)* Award for its project “Protecting the Frail: Leading Through a Pandemic.”

ASAE’s Power of (A)* (Association) Awards—the organization’s highest honor—recognized the association for going above and beyond to assist senior living providers during the pandemic. LeadingAge Florida Announces Newly Elected Board of Trustees

LeadingAge Florida, the state’s only association that serves the entire continuum of care for seniors, elected Bruce Jones as its new Board Chair during the association’s convention in Orlando.

In addition to Jones’ election, senior living leaders from Central and South Florida were also elected to the LeadingAge Florida Board of Trustees at its convention. The board is responsible for LeadingAge Florida’s mission, goals, resources and objectives, and comprises leaders from the state’s premier senior living organizations that serve more than 80,000 of Florida’s older adults. LeadingAge Florida Announces Lisa Smith as Director of Nursing Home Public Policy

LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, announced today that Lisa Smith has been hired as the association’s Director of Nursing Home Public Policy.

Ms. Smith joins LeadingAge Florida from the Agency for Healthcare Administration where she served as the Bureau Chief for the Medicaid Finance Program for the last three years. Read More...

LeadingAge Florida and Eldergrow to Implement Therapeutic Horticulture Programs in Nursing Homes

LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, has been awarded a $1 million Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) grant through CMS Region 4 and the Agency for Health Care Administration for its joint Eldergrow GARDEN project. The project will implement therapeutic horticulture programs in 22 nursing homes across the state and enhance the quality of life for seniors living in these communities.

LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, announced its 2021 legislative priorities for senior living and long term care today. Top priorities include protecting the FY 2020-2021 Medicaid funding increase, enacting reasonable COVID-19 liability protections for long term care, addressing the long term care workforce shortage through permanent implementation of the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Program, and preventing the sweep of any funds allocated to affordable housing programs.
