Maintenance & Environmental Services Workshop

Experts from both the public and private sectors will discuss finding solutions that save money and produce environmental benefits in your community. This highly interactive workshop will provide Maintenance Directors, Purchasing Agents, Maintenance Staff, Administrators and Environmental Services Staff of retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted living, affordable housing communities and independent living facilities with the most up-to-date information the maintenance profession has to offer.

This session addresses recent physical plant citations of Life Safety Code (LSC) surveys across Florida and how to avoid negative survey outcomes. Attendees will learn the appropriate protocols and substantive requirements in the statute and regulations to determine whether a citation of non-compliance is appropriate.

HUD is mandating that all public housing go smoke-free, an action that will have a ripple effect throughout the affordable housing sector. Disucssions will cover the HUD mandates and other new developments in smoke-free housing including free services provided by Tobacco Free Florida to help properties go smoke-free.

LeadingAge Florida is providing up to five (5) contact hours of credit for nursing home administrators, nurses and clinical social workers licensed in Florida.

Cancellations/Refunds/Substitutions
There is a $50 administrative fee for each cancellation or refund. All cancellations must be in writing. Substitutions will be accepted at no additional fee. Due to costs incurred related to the workshop, no refunds will be issued after February 16, 2016. All cancellations and substitution requests must be sent to Cathy Van Atta by email at cvanatta@LeadingAgeFlorida.org or faxed to (850) 671-3790.

Scholarships Available
The Scott Boord Career Development Scholarship Program gives members an opportunity to attend Aging Services programs and education events for those that otherwise would be unable to participate because of financial limitations.
