Join us for LeadingAge Florida’s Legislative Days: Advocacy in Action – an important opportunity to meet with your state legislators and advocate for the issues that matter the most to you and your residents! Numerous mission critical issues will be in play during the 2023 Legislative Session, including:
• Modernizing current continuing care retirement community laws • Addressing workforce and staffing challenges • Enhancing Medicaid funding for nursing homes and prioritizing funding for direct care • Continuing recurring funding for employee wage increases • Enhancing Medicaid funding for Assisted Living Facilities and Home and Community-Based Services • Updating Dementia-related Staff Training
LeadingAge Florida’s Legislative Days provides an opportunity to: • Share your experiences supporting the need for changes to CCRC laws • Encourage legislators to appropriately and adequately fund nursing home Medicaid reimbursement to ensure the highest quality of care is preserved and explain why putting increased funding into direct care is so important • Educate legislators about the workforce challenges you are facing and how the nursing staff shortage impacts your community
Legislators need to hear from you so they understand, promote, and protect the programs and services your communities provide for Florida’s seniors. Your credibility as an industry expert and as a provider makes you an ideal advocate for your community and the seniors you serve!
Join us for lunch on Tuesday, March 14 to hear from key policymakers who make the important policy decisions affecting our member communities. After lunch we will head to the Capitol to make sure the collective voice of LeadingAge Florida is heard. We will make sure you have all the background and talking points you need to be effective. Why is Grassroots Advocacy So Important? Legislators listen to constituents, because they answer to them! This event will give you the opportunity to speak with lawmakers while they are making critical decisions about the state budget, long-term care, and senior housing. By telling them your story, you can personalize the issues and influence the outcome of pending legislation. Legislators need to hear from you so services and programs for senior Floridians are treated fairly. As a provider, your credibility makes you the perfect expert advocate for your community and the elders you serve. Your attendance is needed to make LeadingAge Florida’s unified voice heard loud and clear.
