LeadingAge Southeast Commends State Leaders for Advancing Older Adult Protection Through Operation Senior Shield

LeadingAge Southeast, the association representing high-quality senior living and aging services providers across Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, applauds the launch of Operation Senior Shield, a new statewide alert system designed to keep older adults informed, empowered, and protected from scams. The initiative—introduced by Lt. Governor Jay Collins and Florida Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Michelle Branham—aims to ensure older adults, caregivers, and providers have timely and practical information to stay one step ahead of emerging fraud schemes.

As part of its mission to advocate, educate, and serve, LeadingAge Southeast supports efforts that reinforce safety and security for older adults—particularly at a time when scams targeting older adults are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Steve Bahmer, President and CEO of LeadingAge Southeast, testified today before the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, expressing concerns about proposed legislation impacting Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) in Florida.
